Dear Atoka EPC family,
This coming Sunday we continue in the Advent season. Our Old Testament text/prophecy will be from Genesis 49:10 and our New Testament text/fulfillment will come from Matthew 1:18-25. Pray that the Lord will bless His word at Atoka Presbyterian in these coming weeks.
Also, please be reminded that there is no adult Sunday school this week. The Sunday school children will meet in the sanctuary at 9:45 a.m. in order to practice for the Christmas program scheduled for Sunday evening at 5 p.m. Our morning worship service begins at the regular time of 11 a.m.
Let us continue to pray for . . .
1. Krissy Lavelle, that the blood platelets she received Tuesday will bring sufficient strength needed for each day.
2. Sue Arthur, that she will remain infection free.
3. Shirley Chorley, for improved stability and for Jackie Reasons as she provides care for Shirley.
4. Betty Roberts, for her ongoing testing and that she will be able to eat more solid food in the days to come.
5. Emily and Evan Montgomery as they anticipate the birth of their twin daughters. Pray for Emily’s ongoing health.
6. Dan Dodson.
7. All for whom we have prayed for going through various forms of treatments for cancer at various stages, including Barnet Hall, Rick Veldman, Cade Mullens, Liam Setzer, Dan Kuiper, Bill Stoub, Linda Carter, Declyn Daniels, and many others. Give thanks for the Lord’s sustaining grace for each this year.
8. Jon Benton Mize and his planned treatment in January.
9. Bobbie Wooten, that her heart ablation in January will be effective.
10. Josiah Lawrence, son in law of Daphne Stroud. He is experiencing severe back pain and is scheduled for an MRI tomorrow. Pray for relief and clear test results.
11. Gary Montgomery continuing his long recovery.
12. Lyda Meyer, giving thanks she has returned home.
13. Our students as the complete their semesters.
14. The elected leaders in our nation at every level.
15. The Angel Tree families whom the Lord permits us to serve.
16. Phil and Diane Thrash.
17. Humility toward others and generosity toward the Kingdom of God.
18. The Lord’s word preached and taught at Atoka Presbyterian and throughout Tipton County.

20. Our Christmas Eve service, asking that many from our neighborhood will attend.
As we celebrate communion this coming Sunday we will gather up food for the pantry at First Presbyterian in Covington, Tennessee. Place your non-perishable food items on the table by the mission board downstairs.
The women’s group will meet on Wednesday, January 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary for time of Bible study and fellowship.
Thank you for your willingness to purchase Angel Tree gifts. Gifts should be around $30 and should be returned to church by Sunday, December 14 for delivery on Saturday, December 20. For those who would like to participate in the delivery on December 20 please sign the sheet in the foyer so we can make delivery plans. We will meet at 11 a.m. in the church basement and delivery takes approximately an hour to complete.
Our Christmas program is this coming Sunday, December 7 at 5 p.m. Our children will sing. The Scripture will be read. We will sing carols together. Clay Lavelle will bring his testimony of the Lord’s goodness. Invite a friend or neighbor and bring a finger food to share for a time of fellowship afterward.
Our Christmas Eve service of lessons and carols will be held at 6 p.m. on December 24. If you plan to attend and would be willing to read a scripture text during our service please let me know. Pray that many from the community will attend.
Sunday school meets again next Sunday at the regular time of 9:45 a.m. The adult class meets in the sanctuary and is studying the Ligonier Ministry series on the life and teaching of J. Gresham Machen. The middle/high school class meets in the library. Pre-K/elementary meets downstairs, where Brenda Bryant and an additional volunteer continue to serve our young children well weekly.
